Slap Yo’ Mama Pulled Pork (But Don’t Really, She’s Awesome)

From BPJ, this is a twist on a friend’s “hunting trip” recipe. Ridiculously easy crockpot meal that’s a hit with BBQ-lovers, lazy cooks, and folks tired of Sloppy Joe’s.



1 Bone-In Pork Butt, Fat Still On

2 TBS Kosher Salt

2 Bottles Kraft Original BBQ Sauce

1 Onion, Quartered

1 Package Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix

1 Bottle Beer, Preferably Shiner


  1. Rub salt into all sides of pork butt. Stick in crockpot.
  2. Dump in every other ingredient, set crockpot to 8 hours.
  3. ….wait eight hours, trying not to gnaw your arm off from the delicious smells….
  4. Remove pork from crock pot, and use two forks to shred, or “pull,” the meat into strings.
  5. Voila!

We usually serve it on hamburger buns with pickles. If you need sauce  for topping, take a few ladles-full from the crockpot and reduce for 5 minutes over medium heat to thicken.
